Our civic venture stressed the importance of civil engagement in a democratic society by becoming involved with the Student Bill of Rights. As a part of the Student Bill of Rights team, we educated students around Washington State about their requirements. We also educated our state government about how we as students viewed their decision that would affect our education and our future. |
For our social venture we worked with the Mercer Island Community Fund, a non-profit organization that offers grants to fund various organizations and programs in the Mercer Island community. We were asked to create a new logo, slogan, brochure, and website for their 25th anniversary. By working together to rebrand the Mercer Island Community Fund, we were able to improve the wellness of our community. |

Last year, Mercer Trade Inc. established a relationship with St. Augustine's College in Ghana and traded various products. This year we continued this partnership, sending them various items and importing Ghanaian products to sell on Mercer Island as well. In addition to continuing our work with Ghana, this year we formed a new relationship with the Alice-Smith School in Malaysia. |
For Mercer Trade Inc.'s environmental venture, we supported a solar panel project for our school. This system was implemented by Harry Bolson, a graduating senior at our school. The idea was to install a solar panel system that will provide us with 1.61kW of energy, enough to power our entire marketing department which consists of a student store, office, kitchen and a full working classroom with over sixty laptops. To help with this project we did all of the marketing and assisted with the planning for the unveiling event. The purpose of the unveiling event was to show the community the efforts of high school students to make our home more environmentally friendly. |
